Traveling Around the World - Portugal

Portugal...!!! I had spent 10 wonderful days here with a bunch of amazing people. What did we had in common? We are all members of a beautiful club, Rotaract Club. 20 rotaractors from different countries, meeting here to have a great experience in Portugal.

We were warmly greeted at Lisbon Airport by the organising committees. Our first stop was Proenca-a-Nova. We stayed at chalets by a beautiful river. The place was a perfect start of the trip. We got to hang out and chit chat with each other, and we had loads of fun here.

With such a beautiful river here, it would be quite a waste to just leave it flowing like that right? We jumped in and gosh.. the water's cold, yet so refreshing.

Most of the time, we laid around the grass with a good book in hand. We had picnics and we played games together. It was just too relaxing.

Before the trip, we were told that we will have a session where we prepare some of our local food to be shared around. MmmmMMmm.. We got to try food from Russia, Slovenia, United States, Egypt, Germany, Belgium, and of course Portugal. Nothing could replace replace that.

Every morning we would be woke by this Portugese song which will easily stick to your head. It's our alarm clock. We had bread, ham, juice, cake for breakfast, nothing too fancy yet it was so enjoyable having great people there with you.

The food in Portugal was unforgettable. I fell in love with this particular dish, it's like a salad of vegetables, potato, tuna and egg. Great mixture.

Then we had Serradura Pudding (if I did not remember wrongly). Truly brilliant.

At Castelo Branco, we tasted Portugese Tart. Wow.. The favour in your mouth is seriously addictive. MmmMMmm...

We went to the Bishop's Palace Garden.

And we went walking around town.

Castelo Branco is a nice peaceful town.

Then we headed to Lisbon. The capital of Portugal. This city somehow felt different from the cities I had been to. The architectures kept the identity of Portugal. You will see carvings of sculptures everywhere, beautiful fountains all around town.

My favourite part about this city is that you will never fail to find trees all around.

We went to the Discovery Monument, a big one. On the monument you could see scupltures important historical figures.

We also went to the Palace Square in Lisbon. There is only one word to describe this place, and it's Wow... Beautiful architectures and sculptures. We also did went to Santa Justa Elevator, which is another tourist hot spot.

Our last destination, Sintra. We went to the the very very west peak of Europe which was in Portugal, the Cabo da Roca Lighthouse. The view here was mesmerizing. It will seriously take your breathe away, you could see endless ocean and the tip where the water and the sky seemed to touch.

Sintra is a beautiful town, full of greens and flavor of Portugal. The people here are so friendly, you can sense that everyone here is happy with their smile always on their faces.

This trip was eye-opening. Portugal is a country that I would want to visit again.

I had a wonderful time here in Portugal, and the greatest part of the trip was being with a group of awesome people.

As they always say, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey, and these people made the journey worth wild.
